Protect your temperature-sensitive parcel from guesswork: confirm the product’s rules, the packaging plan and the escalation contact before dispatch.

What is this pre-dispatch checklist for?
It helps you get clear instructions from the supplier before packing and handover. Follow the requirements for the specific product—not a generic “keep cool” label or a guess about what temperature-sensitive means.
What should you confirm with your supplier before dispatch?
- What exact temperature range applies, and are there time limits outside the specified conditions?
- Must the product be protected from freezing, heat, light or another specific condition?
- What packaging configuration and coolant preparation does the product require?
- Has that packaging setup been tested for a comparable route, transport duration, expected conditions and product load? Ask what evidence supports the plan.
- Will a temperature monitor or record be used? Where will the monitor be placed, and how can you obtain the temperature history?
What temperature-sensitive shipping details are easy to miss?
- Ask when the transport-duration record starts and ends. Record when the completed parcel is closed and sealed, and make sure the recipient is ready to open it and move the product into its specified storage conditions.
- Identify who is responsible for the temperature monitor, checking its record and sharing the data.
- Prepare the recipient for the handover so the parcel does not sit unopened or wait for someone to arrange storage.
Who should you call if something feels off?
Before dispatch, get the supplier’s escalation contact and agree what to do if you suspect a temperature excursion, delay, damage or monitoring alarm. Ask how to report a transit issue and request any relevant monitoring record. Don’t decide a product is safe from appearance alone; follow the supplier’s instructions for the next step.
