What is this delivery checklist for?
A completion record can be important if something is missing or damaged. Take a moment to compare the parcel with what you expected, make specific notes about any issue, and keep your own copy of what you signed.
What should you check before signing?
- Count the parcels you received and compare them with your order or dispatch details.
- Check the labels or other identifying details so you can tell the parcel is yours.
- Inspect the outside for tears, crushing, moisture, broken seals or other visible damage.
- If you can check the contents before signing, compare them with your order and look for damage. If you cannot, note the condition of the outer packaging.
- Write down each missing parcel or visible problem clearly on the completion record. If there is no place to add a note, ask how to make a written record before you sign.
- Take clear photos of any damage and keep a copy or photo of every signed page.
What if a parcel is missing or damaged?
Report the issue promptly in writing. List missing parcels separately from damaged ones, describe the damage clearly, attach photos and keep proof that your notice was sent. Keep the parcel and packaging while you document the problem, and save your order details and completion record.
What should you ask about liability or insurance?
Before you commit, ask what the liability or insurance offer actually covers and get the terms in writing. Check how a claim would be valued, what exclusions or limits apply, whether a deductible applies, what evidence you would need and how to make a claim. Do not assume a liability option is insurance unless the paperwork identifies it as insurance coverage.
What details are easy to miss?
- A general note such as “damaged” may not explain what you found. Describe the specific parcel and visible issue.
- A verbal report may be easy to forget. Put the concern in writing and keep a copy.
- Do not wait to document a problem. Take photos and send your written notice promptly.
